What’s Happening to My Money!...

I know I only wrote about the Corona Virus a couple of weeks ago but I think it’s important to communicate regularly with our clients, especially during times of crisis.

You’re, no doubt, aware of the turmoil in the investment markets of late. There’s no need for me to spell it out for you here but we all know things are bad.  Very bad!

Brighton Financial: Dark financial times ahead

You probably know me well enough to know that I DON’T make promises about the markets but I DO care about how you might be feeling and I want you to know I’m here if you need me or want to chat.

I don’t have the answers, I’m afraid.  If I did, I’d be writing this from a yacht in the Maldives!  I’m not, I’m at home, having just finished the weekly hoovering!  I don’t normally work on a Friday but I wanted to send this email to you.

Brighton Financial: Financial markets and the Coronavirus

The last significant crash we went through was in 2008 / 2008. Seems a long time ago but you might remember it was touted as the end of the financial markets as we know it. It wasn’t and I don’t believe it will be this time.

It might be that you have some big questions at the moment:

  • When will this all end and how much more could my money fall by?

  • Should I be thinking about changing my investments and moving to something safer?

  • If / when things pick up, how long will it take to recover what I’ve lost?

  • How’s this all going to impact on my long-term plans and my financial security?

BIG questions and there’s probably many more…

As I said, I don’t have the answers. I do, however, have my opinion, for what it’s worth, and I’ll share that with you:

  • I may be blindly naïve, but I believe we’re going to get on top of this virus. Do you?

  • As we start to see light at the end of the tunnel, we’ll relax and the markets will too.

  • Markets hate nothing more than uncertainty. As a plan emerges, they’ll respond positivity.

  • Recoveries usually happen very quickly after crashes.  We've seen this time and time again over the decades.

  • If it’s any consolation, I’m not doing anything with my own money.I’m just riding the storm.

I’m not trying to make you feel better or give you false hope.  I just want to offer you some words of empathy.  Our clients are REALLY important to me and it’s at times like this that I feel you need our support.

Brighton Financial: Helping you navigate your finances

As I said, please do get in touch with me if you feel it would be useful.  We can have a chat over the phone or a meeting.  Whatever you feel would be more useful.

For now, though, I wish you the best and I’ll be back in touch with you again soon…

Enjoy your weekend…

Marco
